Celebrating the Sertoma Good in 2020

December 14, 2020

We all know that 2020 has been a challenging year for so many. It’s undeniable that many of us have had to pivot and find new ways to tackle old issues. And it is through that creativity and growth that we have been able to put together new programs, trainings and resources dedicated to better serving our clubs and our members.

As we look back at the year that was, we want to highlight many of the new and exciting offerings and benefits that came into existence in 2020:

Landmark Firsts

Expanded Online Education

New & Updated Club Resources

We were also proud to build engagement in our members-only Facebook group, launch text-to-give donation services at our annual convention, and open the online Membership Directory to all members, among many other things.

We can’t wait to see what 2021 holds for Sertoma! If you are ready to become part of our continued growth and change, we hope you will make plans to join us at our National Convention April 23-24, 2021. We are also seeking candidates for next year’s class of National Board of Directors leadership.

From all of us here at Sertoma headquarters, we wish you very Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year!

Having been a Sertoma member since July 1969 with perfect attendance Pres 7 times and SEC DIR I think Hq is finally serving the membership in a positive direction, I don,t agree with some of the structural setup eliminating GOVS but hopefully it will work out Keep up the Good work and be Transparent and be Open to Club needs

      Jesse!!

Great to hear from you. I appreciate the comment very much, and I want to be clear that I know that there are still struggles with Sertoma’s structure. Hopefully we’re showing that we’re still changing and working on getting as good as we can be!!

So many great things! Thank you for reminding us all that there are very BIG reasons to be proud to be a Sertoman! ???

  • Buzz Lewis says:

Thanks for all the exciting new things that you all have made happen, in spite of “The Pandemic.” It just proves that SERTOMA continues to move forward, no matter what.

    • Brandi McGrath Kong says:

Thanks for the supportive words, Buzz!

Celebrating The Sertoma Good in 2020 was an interesting and informative article.

It was especially helpful in designating some of the “newer” aspects of Sertoma Services available.

As a Charter member of the Northfield, MN Sertoma Club, I am the only remaining member of the club that started on March 2, 1974.

Sertoma has changed in many ways but the foremost important part is that we continue to provide “SERVICE-TO-MANKIND”. (not intended to be sexist but used as a general term for all people)

    • Brandi McGrath Kong says:

Sertoma continues to evolve, but the heart of our mission of service remains the same. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do to support our organization!

  • Jim Wilson says:

    Thanks for all your doing!

    • Brandi McGrath Kong says:

Thank you for all YOU are doing as a Sertoman!

  • Mark A Schipporeit says:

I noticed you signed off by saying “Happy Holidays”,
    what happen to “Merry Christmas”?

    • Brandi McGrath Kong says:

Mark, my goal is to always include everyone and the many holidays that our Sertomans celebrate.

  • Paul Rosenberger says:

As an ‘elderly’ long-time “Life Member Sertoman, I appreciate learning about these new efforts being made to “Save Sertoma.” My good club decided to disband when the pandemic stopped our weekly gatherings; it triggered us to face the reality of our declining membership, our rising average age, and other limiting aspects of successful club activities, so we took the obvious action.

    • Brandi McGrath Kong says:

Paul, I am so glad that you enjoyed our update! Thanks for your continued support as a Life Member.
